Care Days providing cancer patients the opportunity of being pampered free of charge for a morning

JOIN THE FUN! 5km fun walk on sunday 22nd march 2026!!

Join the 3rd Care Days 1000km team fun walk for cancer patients!

Don’t panic, you only have to walk 5kms each!

Join the Fun with a 5k Fun walk on Sunday 22nd March 2026
to support your choice of two great cancer support organisations:
Care Days (and Care Days Dreams,) and The Friend’s Hospice.

This will be an historical event with at least 200 walkers each walking 5kms along the beautiful coastal path to the harbour and back, making us all part of the Care Days 1000km cancer charities fun walk! THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF 24 MARATHONS‼ YOU CAN BE A PART OF THIS TEAM!

This time it will be different as we are not going to have our fun walk until 2 weeks after the TUI Paphos marathon so that keen walkers and runners may take part in both.

We will start at 10:00am so it is not such an early start, there will be no problem finding a parking space from where we start on the coastal path by the Kefalos Beach Village gazebo opposite the Elysium Hotel and you will all receive a bespoke t- shirt, plus a few extras such as water and individual certificates!

Not only have the TLC School kindly agreed to put in a larger team, but The Winkles and their famous beer cart will be returning with a bigger team to support Care Days Dreams across Cyprus and we hope to be able to persuade the TLC to provide music again!

So please try to register your own team, or as an individual, so we can achieve the 1000kms!

Thanks to Charlotte, our Graphic Designer and Care Days Administrator, she will design and print bespoke t-shirts with sponsors' names on them, who will cover the cost of advertising and shirt printing so that ALL the money you donate will go to helping whichever of the 2 cancer charities you choose to support. It is important to note that none of the Directors of either The Friend's Hospice or Care Days receive any payment and they claim no expenses, so that ALL the money you raise goes to  help cancer patients.

We need the applications in by end January please which is why we are starting now.

If you wish to be competitive and run the 10k, HALF or FULL MARATHON on Sunday March 8th you will then be a part of the TUI Paphos marathon with timing and a medal and pay their registration fees, but with our own 1000km shirts. We will organise this all for you as part of the 1000km.

Chris Jones, the Chairman of The Friend's Hospice together with his team has worked tirelessly during the last 5 years to transform the house in Tala so generously offered to them, into what is now a truly beautiful and state of the art Hospice which is so badly needed in Paphos.

The support he has received from local businesses has been overwhelming, as has their support for Care Days and we both feel privileged to live in Paphos District where local businesses and individuals really care about helping those with cancer.

Chris has shown a level of patience and tenacity that passes all understanding, but he has never given up. He and his team have raised the necessary funds to build the Hospice and obtain permissions, now they will need to raise Eu 300,000 each year to pay for the costs of running this much needed addition to cancer care in Paphos District.

For Care Days the 1000km fun walk is our prime method of money raising so we really need your support yet again please. Following the 2025 Care days 1000km fun walk we were able to increase the number of Care Days Dreams that we offered from 24 the previous year to a remarkable 2 year total of 72 by August 2025. These Dreams are offered to terminal cancer patients in Cyprus, South Africa, where we have a cooperation with the 93 year old Cancer Association of South Africa and internationally to terminal cancer patients, those with secondary or tertiary cancer, those where both partners have had cancer and cases who are struggling with a painful or difficult cancer. The tears of joy we are able to bring them makes all the hard work worthwhile. Also both charities offer their services to cancer patients of all religions or nationalities. Please try to join our team and help cancer patients. Because the cost of living is so much lower in South Africa CANSA/Care Days are able to offer many more mini Dreams to cancer patients and because the money raised for South Africa is in a ring fenced account just for CANSA/Care Days, Andrew the Founder and his partner Jenny have pledged to personally donate €3500 each year to South Africa, where so much less buys so much more and 60% of the population live below the poverty line. One Dream in Cyprus costs €250. This will buy a Dream for 12 cancer patients in S. Africa!

Please raise a Minimum €40 sponsorship from each walker, for the 5k Fun Walk. Care Days has negotiated the following 20% discounts for the Tui marathon:

Run the 10k, raise at least €40 for Care Days plus €28 Tui registration fee, half marathon raise €40 plus €40 Tui registration fee or full marathon raise €40 plus €48 Tui registration fee. This includes entry into our 1000km fun walk as well as the Tui marathon!

Viva fm hope do a live broadcast at the start of our 1000km Fun walk so please let us know if you would like to chat with them!

Whatever you achieve, be a hero for a morning and do something really great for those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Whichever individual raises the greatest amount of sponsorship money for either Charity will receive a bottle of Champagne donated personally by the Care Days Dream Team, plus this year we are offering a bottle of champagne to the team leader who raises the most from any team in total.

Thank you.
